Wild Coves in Northern Menorca

The northern part of the island is wild and rugged, often with low vegetation shaped by the tramontana wind. There are few roads leading to the coast, mostly connecting residential areas and villages, leaving vast natural areas that are harder to reach. Exploring them on foot or by bike is the best way to discover their unspoiled beaches and coves.

Along the sections of Camí de Cavalls 360º that pass through the S’Albufera des Grau Natural Park, in the northeast of Menorca, you can find some truly magical coves. One such example is Caleta de Binillautí, right on the southern edge of the park’s territory, between Sa Mesquida and Es Grau.

Beyond Es Grau, heading towards the Far de Favàritx lighthouse, there are several interesting coves, especially Platja d’en Tortuga (also known as Arenal d’en Morella), with its perfect crescent shape. Even further north, between Favàritx and Addaia, Cala d’en Caldes offers beautiful views.

In the waters of the Northern Marine Reserve of Menorca, you’ll find coves that you simply shouldn’t miss. These include the iconic golden-sand Cala Pregonda; the inaccessible Cala en Calderer; the remote Es Alocs; and the distinctive Cala del Pilar, with its reddish hues and unique dune system.

Picture-Perfect Coves in Southern Menorca

In the south of the island, white sand and turquoise waters replace the red or dark rocky cliffs of the north. Many of the coves in this part of Menorca are very busy during peak tourist months, though in winter they become extraordinary and peaceful landscapes. Off the beaten path, there are still hidden gems full of charm.

Like the small Cala des Talaier, tucked between Son Saura and Cala en Turqueta. Or Cala de Trebalúger, Cala Fustam, and Cala Escorxada, located along a coastal path between Cala Galdana and Binigaus, which Camí de Cavalls 360º offers as an optional variant to the main trail.

If you want to discover the best coves in Menorca, look no further: Camí de Cavalls 360º is your best option.
